Ask Missy Boo About Deer Lawn Ornaments

Deer lawn ornaments are one of the most popular of all concrete lawn ornaments.  They are available standing, laying, bucks, does, and any combination.  We've included photos of some we've had in the past.

When concrete lawn ornaments come out of the mold they are a natural grey concrete color.  The brown ones have been hand painted with acrylic paints.  You can repaint an older piece with new paint.  Just make sure you get all the old loose paint off before you start.

Standing deer must be poured with reinforcing rods in the legs for strength.  The legs can be fairly fragile and are damaged easily.  The legs of the deer sometimes develop stress cracks which can be easily repaired.

When moving larger deer ornaments around, care must be taken as to not break off ears and tails.  The deer are heavy and it's easy to grab ahold of the fragile ears and tails.  As with all concrete lawn ornaments, you want to keep them from sitting in water or on damp dirt or mulch.

A large standing deer makes a great addition to a yard in the country.  They often attract real deer who come to see who the intruder is.  Smaller deer are great for gardens.  We have also seen many on graves of hunters and outdoorsman.

If your deer ornament is damaged, you can repair it.  For information on Repairing concrete Lawn Ornaments, click here.
